It's a small space, so don't expect hours of wandering. Most people spend 20 to 30 minutes here, reading the information boards and peering at the exhibits. Children find it interesting enough, though younger ones might lose focus quickly - there's not much to do beyond looking. The school opens only seasonally and admission is free, which makes it a good addition to a broader day exploring the Tyneham village ghost-walk rather than a standalone destination.

The location is brilliantly placed for a Dorset park holiday. Wareham sits just a few miles away, and from there you're well-positioned for Durdle Door Holiday Park (4.6 miles) or any of the other campsites in the Purbeck area. It's worth combining with a walk through the rest of Tyneham village and the wider Purbeck heritage trail. The setting, perched on the Dorset coast, means you're never far from proper walking country and the beach. Not a destination on its own, but a genuinely moving waypoint on a deeper Dorset trip.
