Walking into Twenty Acre Wood near Ashford, you're stepping into proper woodland - the sort of place where the canopy does actual work shutting out the sky. The trees are mature, densely packed, and there's something genuinely peaceful about it, even when you're just a few miles from a town. It's ideal territory for families with primary school kids who like exploring, or for anyone needing a quick woodland leg-stretch without the car journey to somewhere more famous. You're looking at maybe 45 minutes to an hour for a proper wander, depending on which trails you take. The ground can get boggy in wet weather - proper wellies territory - but that's woodland for you.

The real value here is proximity. You're five miles or so from Go Glamp if you're staying at their site, which makes this a logical add-on to a park holiday rather than a special trip. Pop out in the morning before the campfire starts, or late afternoon when the light gets decent through the trees. There's no admission fee that we can establish, and no facilities to speak of, so come prepared. It won't blow your mind, but it's honest woodland without pretence - exactly what you need when you want trees without the tourism.
