Tup Hill

Tup Hill is a modest rise on the outskirts of Hull, the sort of place locals know about but visitors often miss. It's not dramatic - Yorkshire's Wolds roll rather than soar - but on a clear day the views across the surrounding farmland are genuinely worth the short walk up. The summit gives you proper perspective on East Yorkshire's landscape: flat fields stretching toward the coast, with Hull's skyline visible to the south on good visibility.

This is walker territory, really. The climb takes fifteen minutes at most, so it's ideal if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Cowden Holiday Park or Sea View Country Park and fancy a leg-stretch without committing to a full hike. Families with young children might manage it, though there's not much at the top beyond the view itself - no facilities, no interpretive panels, just open air and countryside.

The appeal here is uncomplicated. You get up, you look around, you head back down. It works best visited early morning or late afternoon when the light's better and you'll actually see something. Summer weekends can feel a bit busy with local dog walkers, so timing matters if you want any solitude. Free to visit, naturally - it's just a hill. Allow an hour return trip if you take your time, less if you're just after the views. It's the kind of spot that reminds you why these caravan parks dot the Wolds: reasonable access to the genuine, unhyped side of East Yorkshire.
