Tully's Farm Christmas Lights

Drive down the lane towards Haywards Heath in early December and you'll spot the first signs of Tully's Farm lighting up against the dark Surrey sky. It's the sort of place that makes families pile out of the car before you've even found a parking space - thousands of bulbs strung across fields and wrapped round trees, all twinkling away like someone's gone properly mad with the electricity bill.

What you get is a winter lights display spread across farmland, the kind of thing that works brilliantly for families with young children who'll spend a solid hour pointing out their favourite sections. Walkers with a torch might find the route a bit too slow and crowded, and teenagers often look underwhelmed unless they're in the right mood. The whole thing takes about ninety minutes to do properly without rushing, though you can whip round in forty-five if the crowds are breathing down your neck.

Timing matters here. Go on a weeknight in early December and you'll have a far better evening than Christmas week when it turns into a proper cattle market. Bundle everyone up - farms get cold when the sun drops - and take a flask in the car.

It slots nicely into a wider holiday park visit. Long Acres Caravan & Camping Park is just five miles away, and their glamping option is genuinely decent if you fancy something a step up from a tent. The lights make a good evening activity when you're based locally, though it's not a reason on its own to travel across the country.
