Trowbridge Town Park

The River Biss runs right through Trowbridge Town Park, and that's really the heart of it - a proper slice of green space in the middle of town where the water actually feels like the main attraction rather than an afterthought. You get woodland paths, open meadow, and spots where you can just sit and watch the river do its thing. It's the sort of place locals clearly know well, with dog walkers and families using it as everyday recreation rather than a destination visit.

Walkers will get the most mileage from it. The paths are easy enough for all abilities, and you can spend a decent hour meandering through without feeling rushed. History buffs might appreciate the glimpses of Trowbridge's industrial past - the town was massive for cloth manufacturing - though the park itself is more about the present-day greenery than heritage interpretation.

It's free to access, which is always welcome, and there's no gatekeeping about opening hours - it's the sort of park you can slip into when you fancy it. The best time is spring through autumn when the riverside is properly alive. Winter's fine if you don't mind mud.

If you're camping at one of the nearby sites - Widbrook Barns or Marsh Farm are closest, both within a couple of miles - this works as an easy morning walk before heading elsewhere. It's not a day-trip destination on its own, but as part of exploring Trowbridge itself, it's well worth the wander. A solid spot for stretching legs between camp and town centre.
