Trewortha Tor

The walk up Trewortha Tor takes about twenty minutes from the car park near Launceston, and it's a proper scramble in places - not difficult, but enough to get your legs working. The tor itself is a granite outcrop that juts out of moorland, and from the top you get views across Bodmin Moor that stretch for miles. On a clear day you can see right across the landscape; on a grey one, which is half the time in Cornwall, the mist sits in the valleys and you feel completely isolated.

It's the kind of place that rewards walkers more than casual visitors. History types might find the Bronze Age remains interesting - there's evidence of settlement up here from thousands of years back - but honestly, you're mainly coming for the walk and the view. Kids will manage it fine, though younger ones might need a hand on the steeper bits. Allow an hour total including the scramble and some time to sit at the top.

Free, obviously. No visitor centre or facilities, so bring water and wear proper boots if it's been wet. The moorland gets boggy fast after rain. It sits well within a wider Bodmin Moor exploration - you could easily combine it with other tors in the area for a day's walking. If you're based at Trewithen Farm Glamping or Ekopod nearby, this is close enough for a morning outing. Don't expect crowds or facilities, but do expect proper views and genuine space to breathe.
