Trevenson Church

A tiny medieval church sits on the edge of Redruth, largely forgotten by the coach tours that thunder past on their way to more famous Cornish spots. Trevenson Church is properly old - we're talking 13th century - with the kind of worn stone and narrow windows that whisper rather than shout about their age.

Inside, it's intimate in the way only small country churches can be. There's no grandeur here, no soaring vaults or stained glass spectacle. Instead you get low ceilings, simple furnishings, and the sort of peace that comes from somewhere having been quietly minding its own business for seven centuries. The churchyard itself is lovely for a wander if you've got twenty minutes to kill - old graves tilted at angles, wild plants doing their thing.

Honestly? It's not worth a special trip on its own. But if you're staying at Lanyon Holiday Park or Trevarth Holiday Park - both just a short drive away - and you fancy a gentle morning walk from Redruth, it fills a gap nicely. History buffs might appreciate the medieval architecture, and walkers often pass through on longer rambles across the moorland. The quiet is the real draw. Most visitors seem to be locals or people who've stumbled across it by accident, which rather suits the place.

Admission appears free, and there's no formal opening hours - just a church that's been there, unlocked most days, getting on with things. Expect to spend ten minutes inside, half an hour if you're properly interested.
