About Treslaig Tower Viewpoint
What you get is a proper panorama. Ben Nevis dominates the view to the south, but on a clear day the sight lines stretch across the surrounding peaks and down towards Loch Linnhe. The tower itself isn't much - a modest stone structure - but that's almost the point. You're here for the lookout, not the monument.
Walkers will get the most from this one. The path is straightforward enough for anyone with reasonable fitness, though it does climb steeply in places. Young kids might struggle; teenagers will be fine. It's free, and you can slot it into a morning before heading to one of the nearby parks for lunch. Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park is barely three kilometres away and rates excellently, so timing it as a pre-breakfast walk from there makes sense.
Go early if you can. The midges can be brutal come afternoon, and the clouds roll in unpredictably. On a grey day you'll see nothing but mist - I've been caught out before. But when conditions are right, it's well worth the detour from Fort William.
