Tremail Methodist Church

A small Methodist chapel that sits quietly inland from Bude, Tremail Church is one of those places you'll only find if you're actively looking for it. There's something rather lovely about stumbling across a working church in the middle of rural Cornwall - no tourist crowds, no gift shop, just a genuine community space that's been doing its thing for generations.

The building itself is modest and unpretentious, which is rather the point. It's a proper working church serving the local area, not a museum piece dressed up for visitors. That said, if you're into Methodist heritage or simply enjoy the architecture of 19th-century Cornish chapels, it's worth a look. The interior tends to be simple and functional - whitewashed walls, wooden pews, that characteristic Methodist restraint.

This isn't a major draw on its own, to be honest. Most people wouldn't make a special trip here. But if you're staying at one of the nearby glamping spots - Trewithen Farm is only four miles away - and you're having a wander through the lanes around Bude, you could easily swing by. It's the kind of detour that takes twenty minutes and gives you a genuine flavour of how locals actually live, rather than how tourism has packaged Cornwall for consumption.

Kids will find it dull unless they're genuinely into churches. Walkers exploring the inland paths between Bude and the surrounding countryside might appreciate the quiet spot to pause. There's no charge and no set hours that we're aware of, though as an active church, respectful visiting during reasonable daylight hours is expected.
