Torry Hill

The walk up Torry Hill takes about twenty minutes from Burntisland, and it's genuinely worth the effort. You get proper views across the Firth of Forth from the top - on a clear day you can see right across to Edinburgh. The path is straightforward enough, though it does climb fairly steeply towards the finish, and the ground can be muddy after rain so decent boots are essential.

What makes this spot special is how quickly you escape the town noise. Within five minutes you're out of the residential streets and onto open hillside, with the coast falling away below you. The summit itself isn't dramatic - it's moorland rather than rocky peak - but the perspective you get over Burntisland and along the Fife coastline justifies the walk entirely. Walkers and outdoor types will get the most from this; it's not somewhere to linger for hours, but it's a proper little leg-stretcher.

If you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Pettycur Bay is closest at just over three miles away - Torry Hill makes an excellent morning outing. Pair it with a wander round Burntisland's harbour afterwards and you've got a solid half-day sorted. The walk is free, obviously, and accessible year-round, though you'll want to avoid it in thick fog since the views are the whole point. Allow around ninety minutes total if you're not a swift walker. It's the sort of local hill that rewards you for the small effort involved.
