Tom Na Sroine

The walk up Tom Na Sroine from Kinlochleven is a proper slog, but the views across Loch Leven make it genuinely worthwhile. You're looking at roughly 2,500 feet of climbing over rocky, sometimes boggy terrain - not a casual stroll, this one. The peak itself sits above the village, offering panoramic views down to the loch and across to Ben Nevis in the distance. On a clear day, the perspective is excellent; on a cloudy one, you'll be walking through mist for much of the climb.

This is a walk for people who actually enjoy walking, not casual ambles. Families with confident hikers aged 10 and up would manage it, though younger children would likely find the sustained ascent tedious. Allow a good three to four hours for the round trip depending on fitness. The terrain is unrelenting rather than technically difficult - just persistent.

There's no visitor infrastructure at the summit, so bring water and snacks. The walk is free, naturally, and accessible year-round, though winter conditions can make it treacherous. Ben Nevis Holiday Park and Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park are both within five miles, making Tom Na Sroine a solid option if you're based in the area and fancy something less crowded than the Ben Nevis routes. The climb genuinely rewards effort with views that justify the effort spent getting there.
