The walk up Tom Fithich won't take you long, but it'll give you proper views over Loch Lomond and the surrounding Argyll hills. It's a modest peak - nothing requiring climbing gear or a dawn start - and the real appeal is how quickly you're rewarded for minimal effort.

From Alexandria, it's straightforward to reach the trailhead, and the ascent itself is manageable for most fitness levels. The path isn't a marked tourist trail, which means you'll see fewer crowds than you'd get on Ben Lomond or the other bigger names around here. On a clear day, the panorama across the loch is excellent - you can pick out the holiday parks dotted along the shoreline, including Forest Holidays Ardgartan to the north.

Walkers and hill collectors will appreciate ticking off another Argyll peak without committing a full day. Families with older kids might find the scramble engaging rather than tedious. That said, if you're after dramatic vistas or technical terrain, this isn't it. The appeal is the efficiency of it all - minimal time investment, solid reward.

Combine it with a walk along the lochside or an afternoon at Ardgartan if you're staying at Forest Holidays. Go midweek if possible to dodge weekenders, and check the weather first - low cloud strips away the entire point.
