Tom Eas sits just outside Alexandria on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, a modest peak that punches well above its weight for effort versus reward. The walk itself is straightforward - mostly forest paths with the occasional rocky scramble - and you're looking at around two hours return from the car park. What makes it worthwhile is the view from the top: Loch Lomond spreads out below in a way that proper justifies the climb, and on a clear day you can see deep into the highlands beyond. The mountain isn't going to exhaust experienced walkers, but it's genuinely satisfying for families with older kids or anyone wanting something more substantial than a stroll but less punishing than Ben Lomond itself.

Timing matters here. Early morning gets you the loch in that lovely soft light, and you'll avoid the weekend crowds that Alexandria attracts. The weather can swing quickly round these parts - check the forecast and bring layers regardless of what it says. There's no café at the summit, so take snacks and water.

If you're staying at Inverbeg Holiday Park just down the road, Tom Eas makes a cracking half-day outing that won't eat into your broader plans. It's close enough that you can be back for lunch, yet feels properly mountainous when you're standing up there. Milarrochy Bay and Forest Holidays Ardgartan are also within striking distance if you want to combine it with other walks around Loch Lomond - the area has plenty of options if the weather turns mid-holiday.
