Toddler's Cove Playground

The playground at Toddler's Cove near Canterbury is exactly what it sounds like - a proper spot for the under-fives to burn off some energy by the water. It's got the standard fare: swings, slides, a climbing frame or two. Nothing fancy, but genuinely useful if you've got little ones in tow and need them to do something other than sit in a caravan.

It works best for families with toddlers and very young primary school kids. Older children will find it a bit limiting after twenty minutes or so. The setting helps - there's water nearby which keeps things interesting, and it's the kind of place where you can actually sit down and watch without feeling like you've wasted the afternoon.

Bring a picnic. The playground itself is free, though opening hours aren't advertised anywhere obvious, so you'll want to check before making the trip. Summer weekends get busy with local families, so aim for a weekday morning if you can. Allow about an hour, maybe ninety minutes if your kids are the type to milk every piece of equipment.
