About Titchwell Saltmarsh
What you're actually looking at is an RSPB reserve where the land slowly surrenders to the sea. In winter you'll spot overwintering birds - wigeon, pintail, the occasional rarer wader if you're lucky. Spring and autumn bring passage migrants. The light does something strange out there, especially late afternoon when the water turns pewter and the whole place goes quiet except for the occasional curlew call.
It's genuinely excellent for serious birdwatchers and photographers. Casual visitors might find it a bit bleak depending on conditions - there's no shelter, no facilities, and the appeal relies entirely on what the tides and seasons decide to show up. Allow two to three hours if you're going to do it properly. Take binoculars, proper boots, and don't go near high tide.
If you're based at Deepdale Camping or one of the glamping spots nearby, this sits nicely alongside beach walks toward Burnham Market. It's not a half-hour poking-about sort of place though - either commit to it or skip it. The Norfolk coast has other spots if you want something more visitor-friendly.
