Tim's Lights (Tandragee)

You'll find Tim's Lights on the main street in Tandragee, a modest village just outside Markethill in County Armagh. It's a modest affair - essentially a brilliantly decorated house that's become something of a local institution. The lights go up seasonally and transform what would otherwise be an ordinary terraced property into a proper festive spectacle.

This is the sort of place that works best with kids in tow. There's nothing complex about it - you rock up, have a look, take some photos, and move on. The appeal is straightforward: colourful, cheerful, and genuinely effort-geared towards bringing a bit of cheer to the village. It won't take you more than fifteen minutes, and honestly, that's about right for what's on offer.

Timing matters here. If the lights are up, you should see them properly after dark. There's no admission charge that we can find, and you can view them from the street. Tandragee sits between Markethill and Armagh town, making it a convenient detour if you're exploring the area.

If you're camping at Tepee Valley Campsite just down the road, this could kill twenty minutes on an evening walk. Don't expect anything on the scale of those elaborate Christmas light displays you might know from England - it's charmingly local and unpretentious. The surrounding villages along this stretch of Armagh have far more to offer historically, but Tim's Lights does what it sets out to do: brighten up an ordinary street.
