The Sneinton Dragon

Street art doesn't get much more impressive than this massive dragon mural sprawling across the side of a former Victorian school building in Sneinton. The artwork transforms what was once a rather grim bit of urban wall into something genuinely spectacular - a fire-breathing beast that seems to writhe across the brickwork with remarkable detail and colour.

Art enthusiasts and Instagram hunters will get the most from a visit here, though it's worth bringing the kids too as they'll be properly amazed by the sheer scale of the thing. The dragon's emerald scales and fierce expression make for brilliant photos, especially in good light.

Since it's essentially outdoor street art, you can view it any time of day for free. Ten minutes is enough for photos and admiring the craftsmanship, though you might linger longer if you're into urban art. The location in Sneinton, just east of Nottingham city centre, means it's easily combined with exploring the trendy cafes and independent shops that have sprung up in this former working-class area.
