East View

Standing at this elevated spot just outside Nottingham, you get sweeping views across the Trent Valley that stretch well into the distance on a clear day. The name says it all really - this is very much an eastern outlook, best appreciated in the morning when the light catches the rolling countryside properly.

Walkers and cyclists stumble upon East View regularly, though it's not signposted as anything special. The vista takes in farmland, scattered villages, and the river's meandering course below. On crisp winter days, you can pick out landmarks for miles.

Families might find it a bit underwhelming - there's nowhere to sit properly and kids will lose interest after a quick photo. But if you're already exploring the area on foot or cycling the local bridleways, it makes for a decent pause.

The spot works well as part of a longer walk from any of the nearby camping spots like Holme Pierrepont or the Nottingham Camping and Caravanning Club Site. You're only a few miles from the city centre here, so it's an easy addition to a day out rather than a destination in itself. Best visited when the weather's cooperating - there's precious little shelter if it turns.
