Walking into The Retro Zone near Keswick feels like stepping into someone's attic - the good kind, where every shelf holds something that makes you go 'Christ, I remember that.' It's a museum, but calling it that undersells what's really happening here. You've got arcade games that actually work, old toys, vintage tech, records, magazines, and the kind of stuff that makes anyone who grew up in the 80s or 90s properly nostalgic.

The layout's a bit cramped and chaotic, which is entirely part of the charm. You're not here for carefully curated exhibitions - you're here to poke around, find oddities, and remember why you spent your pocket money on things that are now technically antiques. Kids get a genuine kick out of seeing how people entertained themselves before tablets existed. Parents usually end up more absorbed than their children, to be honest.

It's open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, and while I can't confirm admission prices from here, it's worth checking ahead. Allow a solid hour minimum, though you could happily stretch that to two if you're easily distracted. There's genuine value if you're into this sort of thing.

If you're camping nearby at either Kestrel Lodge or Ewe Love, this makes a proper rainy-day plan. Keswick itself is all lakes and fells, so mixing a museum visit with the outdoor stuff works well - keeps everyone happy on days when the weather's being difficult.
