The Pavilion at Mount St. Mary's College is a proper sports facility tucked away in the Derbyshire countryside, just outside Sheffield. It's a working venue rather than a tourist attraction - think basketball courts, badminton halls, and indoor sports spaces that genuinely get used by the college and local clubs. If you're expecting grandeur, you'll be disappointed. What you actually get is functional, well-maintained sports infrastructure set within the college grounds.

This is really only worth a visit if you're into indoor sports or thinking of hiring a court for something specific. Casual visitors won't find much to occupy them - there's no café culture or spectator seating for random drop-ins. The setting is pleasant enough, with the Derbyshire landscape around it, but the building itself is fairly utilitarian.

Where it makes sense is as part of a longer holiday based at one of the nearby caravan parks. Rother Valley Country Park, just 2.2 miles away, offers far more recreational variety - lakes, walking trails, proper facilities. Waleswood Caravan and Camping Park (2.6 miles) is the more upmarket option if you're after somewhere comfortable to base yourself. If you're staying at either and need to book a sports court or you've got a match on, the Pavilion is conveniently local. Otherwise, spend your time at the country parks instead.
