The Loft

The Loft is Cardigan's answer to proper indoor sports - a climbing wall and training facility that punches well above its weight for a town of this size. It's housed in a converted warehouse space, all exposed brick and industrial charm, with ropes strung across the ceiling and a decent bouldering wall that'll keep you occupied for a couple of hours.

Climbers of any level will find something here, from complete beginners to folk who actually know what they're doing. The staff know their stuff and can set you up quickly if you've never tied in before. If you're staying at one of the nearby campsites - Cardigan Bay Holiday Park sits just 2.1 miles away, or Happy Campers is even closer at 1.4 miles - it's an excellent rainy-day option or an evening session after a coastal walk along the Pembrokeshire cliffs.

It's worth checking their website for opening hours and whether you need to book ahead, as independent venues like this can be quirky about timings. Admission isn't free, but it's reasonably priced and ropes and harnesses are included. You'll want at least two hours to get your money's worth, though serious climbers could easily spend half a day here.

Families with older kids will enjoy it more than little ones - there's a minimum age and strength requirement for the roped walls. It works best paired with Cardigan's coastal attractions rather than as a standalone visit, but if the weather turns grim during your camping trip, you'll be grateful it exists.
