The Ladybird

The Ladybird is a proper odd bit of North Yorkshire - a quirky roadside landmark that stops you in your tracks if you're driving near Ripon. It's basically a giant mechanical ladybird sculpture, the sort of thing that makes you do a double-take and wonder what possessed someone to plonk it there. The sculpture itself is the main event, so you're not looking at a museum or visitor centre - just somewhere to pull over, have a look, maybe take a photo, and carry on with your day. It takes about fifteen minutes maximum, which is fine if you're passing through but not really a destination in itself.
