The Granary

The Granary is one of Worcester's lesser-known ecclesiastical buildings, a church that doesn't announce itself loudly but rewards a proper look if you find yourself exploring the city's older quarters. It's the sort of place you'd stumble upon while walking between Worcester's Cathedral and the riverside, half-expecting it to be locked but pleased when you discover it's open and quiet.

What makes it worth a visit is its age and the particular character of Worcestershire stonework - nothing flashy, just solid medieval construction that's held up remarkably well. The interior is modest but has genuine presence. You're looking at maybe twenty minutes here if you're the type to sit in the pews for a moment, or five if you're just passing through to tick it off.

Historically minded visitors will get the most from it. Families with restless kids might find it a bit brief unless they're genuinely into church architecture. If you're staying at Worcester Glamping or any of the caravan parks within a couple of miles - Ketch or Mill House - it's close enough to slot into a morning exploring Worcester's center on foot. The Cathedral will eat up more of your time, but The Granary makes a sensible stop on the circuit.

Best bit is that it won't be rammed. You'll have the peace of the place to yourself, which is increasingly rare in market towns. No entry fee as far as I can tell, and no particular opening hours to worry about - it's the sort of church that's usually accessible if you're around during daylight.
