The End to End Story

You're standing at Britain's most south-westerly point, and this museum tells the story of everyone mad enough to walk, cycle, or crawl from John o' Groats to Land's End. The End to End Story is housed right at the landmark itself, just outside Penzance, and it's surprisingly absorbing if you've got any interest in endurance challenges or human stubbornness.

The exhibition tracks the journeys of various adventurers - some raising money for charity, others just proving they could do it. There are photographs, maps, and personal accounts that bring these epic treks to life. You'll see vintage cycling gear, walking boots worn through to nothing, and handwritten diaries from people who took months to complete the route. It's the kind of place where you end up reading every caption because the stories are genuinely compelling.

Allow about an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you're thorough. Families with kids aged ten and up will get something from it, though younger children might lose interest quickly. The admission is free, which is brilliant when you're already paying to visit the headland itself.

Perfect for a rainy afternoon during a park holiday - Lands End Camping & Glamping is practically on the doorstep, just 0.7 miles away, so you can easily pop in between outdoor activities. Roselands Caravan Camping Park, four miles back towards Penzance, also makes a solid base if you want slightly more facilities. The museum works well as part of a broader Land's End visit rather than a standalone destination, but it's well worth thirty minutes of your time.
