Your dog will have the run of the place at The Dog Park in Parc Dewi Sant, just outside Carmarthen. This is proper open space - the sort of field where your spaniel can actually burn off some energy without you fretting about traffic or loose sheep. The park itself stretches across decent acreage, and the dog section is clearly marked out, giving pooches room to chase, sniff, and socialise without annoying folk who've come for a walk.

It's free to use, which is a bonus when you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Church House Farm Getaways is closest at under three miles away, and Quarry Lodge sits about four and a half. Bring a ball, pack patience, and allow an hour if you want your dog to actually get tired out. The ground can get muddy after rain, so don't bring pristine trainers.

For families with dogs, this beats wrestling your pet on a lead around town every time. Solo walkers won't get much from it. If the weather turns foul, you'll want somewhere with cover - there isn't much on site. It works well as a mid-week break filler between exploring Carmarthen's town centre and longer countryside walks. Dogs genuinely love it more than their owners do, which is rather the point.
