Teglease Copse

Walk into Teglease Copse and you'll find yourself surrounded by proper woodland - the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think. It's a small forest on the outskirts of Waterlooville in Hampshire, unremarkable at first glance but quietly absorbing once you're in among the trees.

There's not much to do here in the tourist attraction sense. No visitor centre, no interpretive boards, no café. What you get instead are woodland paths that wind through native trees - good for an hour's ramble if you're staying locally, though it's hardly worth planning a day around. Families with young kids might find it a bit samey after twenty minutes. Serious walkers will appreciate it as a proper walk, and anyone after a quick nature fix before or after visiting nearby attractions will find it perfectly serviceable.

It's free to access and works best as part of a wider park holiday. If you're staying at Cedar Valley or Beechen Glamping - both cracking spots just a few miles away - you could slot this in as a morning walk without any fuss. Same goes for Woodlands Camping a touch further out. The real draw is getting some fresh air and woodland under your feet without the crowds you'd find at the bigger Hampshire forests.

Best visited on a clear day when the light filters through properly. Early morning or late afternoon beats midday. Allow an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you meander.
