Tay Bridge Sculpture

The Tay Bridge Sculpture sits right at the water's edge in Tayport, a stark and moving tribute to one of Scotland's worst railway disasters. On 28 December 1879, the original bridge collapsed during a storm, sending a train and 75 people into the Firth of Tay. Walking up to this memorial, you're confronted with the sheer scale of what happened - it's not a cheerful spot, but it matters.

Both Tayport Links Caravan Park and Larick Campsite are within easy reach and highly rated, making this a sensible stop if you're basing yourself nearby. The walk between the sculpture and town takes about ten minutes. Go on a clear day if you can - the bridge view across the water makes the whole experience hit harder.
