Tarry Hill

The walk up Tarry Hill from Dunfermline is straightforward enough, and on a clear day the views across Fife proper make it worth the leg work. It's not a mountain - more a decent hill that gives you perspective on the landscape without requiring serious hiking boots or a packed lunch.

The summit itself is fairly modest. You won't find a trig point or a café, just open ground and the satisfaction of having climbed something. What makes it worthwhile is the vantage point over the surrounding country, and the fact it's accessible enough for most reasonably fit walkers. Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger ones might find the climb a bit tedious.

Allow an hour or so for the round trip depending on your pace. It's the kind of place that works brilliantly as part of a broader Fife exploration rather than a destination in itself.
