Talargoch Lead Mine

The entrance to Talargoch is tucked into the Welsh hillside near Rhyl, and stepping inside feels like crossing into another century. This Victorian lead mine operated deep underground, pulling out ore that helped fuel Wales' industrial boom - you can still see the evidence of picks and shovels in the rock walls. The mine itself is a proper maze of tunnels and chambers, some of them flooded, others opening into caverns where the silence is almost unsettling.
