Sueno's Stone

You'll find Sueno's Stone standing alone in a field just outside Forres, and it's properly striking - a 7-metre tall Pictish slab carved with intricate designs that somehow survived over a thousand years of Scottish weather. The stone itself is covered in carved symbols, human figures, and what looks like a hunting scene, though what it all means is still debated by historians and archaeologists.

This isn't a manicured visitor attraction with a gift shop or café. It's just the stone, a modern protective shelter around it, and the fields beyond.
