Walking into Grant Park near Forres is like stepping into someone's lovingly tended secret. This nature reserve sprawls across proper woodland and open ground where you'd be daft not to bring binoculars - the bird watching here is genuinely exceptional. You'll find yourself on well-maintained paths that meander through native Scottish landscape, spotting everything from woodpeckers to the occasional red squirrel if you're lucky enough.

The reserve works best for walkers and nature enthusiasts rather than families after a quick half-hour outing. Allow at least two hours to do it justice, longer if you're serious about ornithology.
