The confined space adds something - you feel the weight of being underground, literally surrounded by metal. Some visitors find it claustrophobic; others reckon that's the whole point.

It works best if you're already interested in modern art or industrial heritage. Kids might find the novelty of walking inside a submarine brilliant for twenty minutes, then get restless. History buffs will appreciate the engineering itself more than casual tourists.

The location near Shipley makes it a decent addition to a broader Yorkshire trip. Two Acre Camping sits just four miles away, so it's manageable as a stop-off rather than a destination in itself. Bronte Country Park is six miles further if you're making a loop of West Yorkshire attractions.

Frankly, it's worth the detour if you're in the area and fancy something unusual. Don't expect traditional gallery aesthetics - you're paying to step inside an actual submarine. That alone justifies the journey.
