The Strule Arts Centre sits right in the heart of Omagh, a proper cultural anchor for the town. It's a working theatre and gallery space rather than a museum - the sort of place that genuinely changes what's on depending on the season. When I visited, there was a contemporary exhibition running alongside rehearsals for an upcoming production, which gave the whole building a living, slightly chaotic energy.

You've got a theatre with a decent-sized stage, a gallery space that rotates exhibitions, and a cafe that doesn't take itself too seriously. The building itself is modern and well-designed - nothing fancy, but it feels like it belongs to Omagh rather than being imposed on it. Local schools bring groups through, tourists pop in when the weather's rough, and you'll often catch people just grabbing a coffee between activities.

If you're in the area for a few days - say, based at somewhere like Gortin Glen Glamping five or so miles away - this is worth checking what's on. Theatre isn't everyone's thing, but if live music or contemporary art appeals to you, it's genuinely worth an hour or two. The gallery's free to walk through, though ticketed events vary. Best to ring ahead or check online for what's happening during your visit. The cafe alone is reason enough to stop by on a wet afternoon in Fermanagh.
