Stonebridge Meadows

The bridge itself is the whole point here - a proper stone crossing that's been doing its job for centuries, arching over what's now a fairly modest waterway just outside Coventry. It's the sort of place you'd drive past without thinking twice, unless you're into that sort of thing, which plenty of people are.

What you're looking at is medieval engineering at its most practical. No ornament, no fuss, just solid stonework that's weathered everything Warwickshire's thrown at it. The meadows surrounding it are pleasant enough - flat, open ground with the kind of unremarkable English countryside charm that actually grows on you the longer you stand there. Bring binoculars if you're into birds; the water attracts a decent variety.

This works best for walkers combining it with other stops rather than as a destination in itself. You won't need more than thirty minutes, honestly - take a few photographs, maybe a walk along the banks, and you're done. Families with small children might find it underwhelming; there's nothing to climb on or splash in, just views and history.

If you're staying at Eriba Glade or Lairhillock, both within easy striking distance, it's worth the short drive as part of a wider Coventry-area loop. Pack a thermos, enjoy the quietness, and tick it off the list. Not spectacular, but solid - which, rather fittingly, is exactly what the bridge is too.
