Stockgrove Lake

The lake itself is the main draw - a proper tranquil spot surrounded by woodland and open grassland where you can actually hear yourself think. The reserve is free to access, which is always a bonus. Go early morning or late afternoon when the wildlife's most active and the light's best for photography. Midday in summer can feel a bit exposed if the sun's hammering down.
