Station Coppice

A wooded dell just outside Keswick that feels properly removed from the bustle of the town centre. Station Coppice is a small nature reserve, really - nothing grand, just a cluster of mature trees and a gentle stream that runs through it. The sort of place locals know and visitors often miss entirely.

You're looking at a short walk rather than a destination in itself. The trees are lovely in autumn when the light filters through the canopy, and there's a real sense of quiet here that you won't get on the main tourist trails around Derwentwater. It's not somewhere you'll spend hours, but it's the kind of spot that makes sense if you're staying nearby and want to stretch your legs without leaving town.

Walkers will appreciate the woodland trail, though it's gentle rather than demanding. Families with young kids can manage it easily enough, though there isn't really the spectacle needed to keep them entertained for long. This is more about a brief escape than a proper outing.
