The nearby Thames Path offers better walking overall if you're after something more substantial, but Stanners Hill fills a gap for anyone wanting a quick woodland stroll with a modicum of height gain. Access appears to be free and unrestricted, making it a genuinely cost-free half-day option. Early morning visits tend to be quieter, and the woods are particularly decent in autumn when the canopy thins out.
