This is one for walkers and anyone doing a slow loop of the Eden Valley. The setting matters more than the building itself. You can park nearby and take it in as part of a longer ramble, which is what most visitors do. The churchyard is peaceful, the kind of place where you genuinely hear birdsong.

It's free to visit, obviously, and there's no time pressure - come and go as you please. Allow twenty minutes if you're stopping specifically; longer if you're combining it with a walk. Best on a clear day when the surrounding countryside actually looks decent.

For a caravan holiday based at one of the nearby parks - Englethwaite Hall is handy at under four miles away - this works as a gentle half-hour diversion rather than a main event. If you're stationed at Eden Valley Glamping or Drybeck Farm, it's an easy drive. Really, though, St Paul is best appreciated as part of the wider Eden Valley landscape rather than a destination in itself. The area itself rewards exploration far more than any single building.
