The interior is straightforward rather than showy, which appeals if you're after actual history rather than theatrical grandeur. Stone flags, reasonable stained glass, and the sort of peace that comes from somewhere people have actually prayed.

You won't need more than half an hour here unless you're really into ecclesiastical architecture or spending time with the brass plaques. It's free to visit when it's open, though hours depend on services and volunteer availability - worth ringing ahead if you're making a special trip. The real value is as a decent stopping point during a walk round Stranraer's centre rather than a destination in itself.

If you're based at Haven Craig Tara Holiday Park just outside town, this works well as a wet afternoon or morning outing before heading to the coast. The walk from the park takes twenty minutes or so. Stranraer itself is a working harbour town - not picture-postcard material, but honest and functional. Worth a proper explore on foot.
