The walk up takes about ten minutes from the town centre. Worth doing if you're already in St Neots, though I wouldn't make a special trip just for this. It's the sort of thing that makes sense alongside a pub lunch and a wander through the market square. History buffs will appreciate the Victorian engineering, and the kids might enjoy the slight scramble to reach it.

Based at St Neots Camping and Caravanning Club Site - barely half a mile away - it's an easy leg-stretch between pitches. If you're staying at Cambridgeshire Lakes or Grafham Water, it's worth the short drive back into town. The beacon works best as part of a St Neots afternoon rather than a standalone attraction. Check before you go whether it's open to climb, as access can be weather-dependent or restricted during maintenance.
