St Mary's Episcopal Church in Dunblane is a proper sandstone affair, sitting with quiet authority on its patch of Perthshire ground. The church itself dates back to medieval times, though what you see now is mostly 19th-century restoration - the sort of thoughtful Victorian work that didn't trash the place, just tidied it up.

Inside, it's all high ceilings and that particular kind of light that comes through old stained glass. The stonework is worth a slow walk around. If you're into local history or church architecture, you could easily spend an hour here; families with restless kids might get twenty minutes of decent behaviour before things go downhill.

It's free to visit, which is how it should be. Opening times aren't always obvious, so best check ahead or try your luck early afternoon. The real appeal here is combining it with a wander round Dunblane itself - proper market town with decent tearooms - rather than making a special journey. If you're staying at Witches Craig Caravan & Camping Park, it's barely 3.5 miles away, so worth tacking on to a day out. Same goes if you're at Craighead Howf. Neither park is far enough that you can't pop into town for an afternoon.

The churchyard is genuinely pleasant for a walk, with old headstones that tell their own stories. Worth an hour if you're in the area. Don't expect crowds or fanfare - that's rather the point.
