The church sits right in Teynham village, a short drive south of Faversham, and it's one of those places that rewards a quiet wander if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks. St Mary's is a proper medieval church, the sort of building that's been quietly doing its job for centuries while the world changed around it. The interior has some lovely medieval features worth a look - stonework and details that speak to the village's long history. It's the kind of stop you'd make if you're exploring the quieter corners of Kent rather than rushing between big attractions.

Walkers and history types will get more from it than most. There's something satisfying about stepping into a space that's been at the heart of the same community for that long. Kids will either find it genuinely interesting or want to leave after five minutes - depends on the child, really.

If you're based at Painters Farm Camping Site or any of the other parks dotted around the area, it's well worth the detour on a rainy afternoon or as part of a circular walk. Faversham itself has more going on if you need shops or proper cafes, but for a bit of local colour and some actual quiet time, this works. Check ahead for opening times since churches can be variable, but generally these places are accessible during daylight hours. Budget twenty minutes unless you're genuinely into ecclesiastical architecture.
