St Mary's Church Kelling

St Mary's has that distinctive Norfolk look - flint walls with stone dressing, a sturdy tower that's been keeping watch over the marshes for centuries. Inside, the space feels properly intimate; high medieval roof timbers catch the light filtering through ordinary windows, and there's none of that overwhelming grandeur you get at the big cathedral showstoppers.

Walkers gravitate here naturally since it sits on decent rambling routes through the North Norfolk countryside, and it breaks up a morning perfectly without demanding much time. It's free to wander in - no admission charge, no faffing about.
