St. Luke’s, Lowick with Blawith

The walk down to St. Luke's through Lowick feels properly remote, which is half the appeal. You're banking on decent weather here - the church sits in a fold of fellside above the village, and on a grey day it can feel a bit lonely. But when the light's right, with views across the valley toward Coniston Water, it's genuinely moving.

Inside, the church is small and workmanlike rather than grand. What catches you is the sheer age of it - medieval stonework, a Victorian restoration that didn't overwhelm what was already there.
