St Luke's Church, Parkstone

You'll find St Luke's tucked away in Parkstone, just outside Poole, looking rather more substantial than your typical parish church. Built in the 1880s, it's a proper Victorian affair with genuine presence - all red brick and architectural confidence in an era when churches still mattered as statements.

The interior's the real draw. The craftsmanship is unmissable if you're into that sort of thing: decent stained glass, thoughtful decoration, and the kind of peaceful quiet you rarely encounter these days. It's a working church, so you're visiting somewhere that actually functions rather than merely standing as a monument. You're well-positioned between South Lytchett Manor and Burnbake Forest Lodges - both excellent bases for this corner of Dorset - and this sort of thing fits neatly into a morning before heading elsewhere.
