St John the Baptist Church, Bradworthy

The church sits quietly in Bradworthy village, a proper fifteenth-century affair with that solid Devon stone look you see across the region. St John the Baptist is exactly what you'd expect - high ceilings, carved wooden screens, the kind of place where you can actually feel the age of things. The walk around the churchyard is pleasant enough, with some decent views across the surrounding farmland if you're into that sort of thing.

It's worth a stop if you're in the area, though not a trip in itself. History buffs and church enthusiasts will spend a good thirty minutes exploring the interior and reading the memorials. Families with young kids might find it a bit dull unless they're already keen on old buildings. The real value here is combining it with a broader walk around Bradworthy village itself - you're close enough to Bideford that you could easily do this as a detour during a wider exploration of North Devon.

Free to visit, obviously. No opening hours or special access restrictions that I'm aware of, so you can visit at your own pace. If you're camping or glamping at Atlantic Horizons or Roeys Retreat, both within easy driving distance, this makes a sensible half-hour break between sites or between beach days. Don't expect a major attraction - expect a genuine village church with real character and the sort of quiet corner of Devon that makes people book holidays here in the first place.
