St Hilda's Church : Ampleforth

The church sits tucked into the village of Ampleforth, about fifteen minutes from York, and it's worth slipping off the main road to find it. St Hilda's is a proper medieval parish church - all stone and history, with the sort of worn flagstones inside that tell you centuries of worshippers have trodden this same path. The bell tower catches your eye first, solid and unshowy, rising above the roofline in that characterful way English village churches do.
