St Eunan’s Church

St Eunan's Church sits quietly on the outskirts of Stirling, a modest stone building that doesn't announce itself with fanfare but rewards those who bother to find it. It's a working parish church with genuine medieval bones, though much of what you see dates from Victorian restoration work - the sort of honest rebuilding that respects what came before without trying to fake it.

The interior has that cool, hushed quality all old churches do, with simple furnishings and genuine stained glass rather than the fancy stuff. If you're into ecclesiastical architecture or Scottish religious history, there's plenty to appreciate here. The graveyard's worth a wander too - you get a sense of the families who've lived in this corner of the Lowlands for centuries.

Truthfully, it's not a major draw on its own. You won't spend more than thirty minutes inside and around the building. But if you're already in Stirling exploring the castle or walking the nearby trails, and you've got a spare hour, it's absolutely worth the detour. The church sits at the edge of proper countryside, so you could easily combine it with a decent walk through the landscape.

Free entry, obviously. The WHW Hotel & Campsite just down the road makes a sensible base if you're staying overnight - it's close enough to Stirling itself but far enough out to feel less hectic. Check opening hours locally, as it's still an active parish church with occasional services.
