A 14th-century sandstone church sitting quietly in the Lancashire countryside near Halsall, St Cuthbert is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than deliberately hunt down. The building itself is modest but genuinely interesting - proper medieval work with later additions that show how rural churches evolved over centuries. Inside, you'll find the usual mix of memorials, box pews, and that particular smell of old stone and hymn books that never quite leaves.

It's worth a visit if you're into church architecture or local history, though don't expect grandeur.
