St Cattwg's Church

The churchyard sits quiet on a gentle slope just outside Brecon, where St Cattwg's has watched over the Powys landscape for centuries. It's one of those places that rewards a bit of poking around - the church itself is modest, but there's real character in the stonework and the sense that this spot has mattered to people for a very long time.

You'll spend maybe twenty minutes inside, longer if you're the type to read every memorial and trace your fingers over carved names. The graveyard is worth a wander too, particularly if you're interested in local history - plenty of stories carved into slate. There's nothing flashy about it, which is precisely the point. The location makes it a natural addon if you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Cefn Cantref Campsite and 68 Degrees West Glamping are both close by, so you could easily combine it with exploring the wider Brecon area. Don't expect crowds or facilities, but do expect to stand in a space that genuinely matters to the community. Go early in the day if you prefer peace and quiet.
